The informational company Chemical Block (CB)
was started up by graduates of the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1999.
Most of the CB principal employees previously occupied high positions
in various affiliates of the Russian Academy of Sciences and have a sound professional
background.
The company's policy focuses on implementing the idea of an
integrated data search system to reveal and collect data on actually available
organic substances synthesized in Russia and their spectral characteristics
with the primary goal of drawing potential investors' interest to new molecules
and advanced technologies.
CB business activities and services are related to the
following areas:
- design of original information technologies and software for storage of
chemical formulas, NMR, mass and IR spectra, etc.;
- organization and funding of free spectra recording for any kinds of new
organic substances provided by any research center;
- registration and analysis of up to 1000 NMR spectra a day. This capacity
has been achieved through the use of advanced network technologies and home
software for the Bruker-500 MHz NMR spectrometer supported by a unique computerized
NMR-based expert assessment of specimen quality;
- registration of organic structures published in all Russian organic chemistry
journals;
- exchange of information on molecules with major Russian companies (CSC,
Asinex, Chem. Bridge, Zelinsky Institute) and Dutch company SPECS;
- creation of the own library of organic substances for screening and building
blocks for combinatorial synthesis and their sales in the USA, Europe and
Japan;
- for extensive marketing, CB is pursuing integral marketing policy
and supports a joint distributor network with ChemDiv and Asinex;
- in cooperation with the Investors, CB is engaged in designing new
original blocks based on transformations of highly accessible natural feedstock
(cellulose, acetylene, carbon dioxide, and isoprenoids) and chemical industry
waste (chlororganic products, aromatic nitro compounds, hydrogen fluoride,
elementary fluorine, and phosgene);
- CB contributes much to the development of original technologies with
the use of high pressure (up to 200 atm), elevated temperatures (to 400°
C), gaseous acetylene and ammonia, hydrogenation on heterogeneous catalysts,
high-temperature oxidation by nitric acid solutions in joint efforts with
leading Russian companies and research centers: RRC "Kurchatov Institute"
(Moscow), Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry (Moscow), Institute of Physiologically
Active Compounds (Chernogolovka), SKTB Technolog (St. Petersburg), AO Sintvita
(Tula Region), and AO Kaustik (Volgograd);
- in creating the own organic substances collection, top priority is given
to the synthesis based on the blocks developed with the CB participation.
A wide scope of our customer embraces world-top chemical companies,
such as Glaxo, BASF, Bayer, Novartis, Organon, Rhone-Poulenc, Smith Kline,
DuPont, Cyanamide, Zeneca, Pfizer, Amgen, and Summit Pharmaceuticals International Corp.
CB products are also available with distributor networks
of other companies: SPECS, Zelinsky Institute, ChemDiv, Summit Pharmaceuticals International Corp., and Ambinter.
